Cliff Excavation Complete
Cliff Excavation Complete
Rivière Constructions has completed the bulk excavation of the three-level basement, progressing faster than originally anticipated thanks to favourable rock and clay conditions. Anchors were drilled and tensioned through the piles to ensure stability, before the external basement walls were finished with shotcrete adding extra strength. Works are now transitioning into the detailed exaction of pad footings, with the first three poured earlier this week.
To date, more than 300 truckloads representing approximately 10,500m³ of rock and clay was removed from site. This material was then sustainably reused at the Bulimba Barracks Master Planned Community in Brisbane for their civil site preparations.
Inspired by What Lies Beneath
At Aria, it’s often the small, thoughtful touches that make a project truly special. From the outset, our design team envisioned reusing select rock excavated from the site as part of Cliff’s final landscaping, a subtle yet meaningful way of connecting the building to its history and location.
While an unusual request, our excavation subcontractor generously accommodated this vision, setting aside three large skip bins of rock boulders for storage and future use. These elements will be carefully reintroduced at completion, creating a unique and lasting connection to the site’s origins.
