Celebrating International Women’s Day, the 30 women of Aria gathered for breakfast with inspirational special guest speaker, Karni Liddell.

 

A former world record holder, Paralympic swimmer, acclaimed public speaker, TV presenter, “Mama” and clinical social worker, Karni was born with a neuro-muscular wasting disease.

 

Karni’s parents were told their first child wouldn’t walk, crawl, or live past her teenage years. Karni shared her personal and inspiring journey with a very appreciative audience.

 

Karni also discussed how Australia needs to change perceptions of people with disabilities and is a passionate advocate for the over 4 million Australians currently living with a disability – 20% of the population.

 

The ladies were treated with an indulgent breakfast hosted by Fish Lane staple and proud Aria tenant, Hello Please.

 

It was an informative and inspirational morning connecting a diverse and inclusive team of women.
